Summer Camp

July - August 2009



Summer Camp 2009 is going to be a fun and exciting time at Peaceful Acres.

Sessions are limited to 8 students per week so youth get individual attention.


Camp Week: Wednesday - Friday (4 days) starting the second week in July. To sign up for camp, you must complete and return both the registration (doc) and release (pdf) forms with your deposit.


Day begins at 9:30 and participants must be picked up by 12:00.

Participants must bring snacks and drinks.

This is an experience in horsemanship; the rider - student will learn how to care for a horse, grooming, feeding, farm work as a whole-yes at times that does include getting dirty! We help participants to become proficient at Natural Horsemanship and learn to "speak horse", not  just be a passenger!


The importance of partnership and communication are a major influence which makes us better riders."Equine Assisted Learning" activities, using The EAGALA Model,  which build on teamwork and empower the participants to reach for their goals and develop leadership skills will be planned daily!

  

 

Camp Schedule:

  • 9:00 drop off
  • 9:30 Care, barn cleaning & safety lesson
  • 10:30 Natural Horsemanship Lesson & Riding Lesson
  • 11:30 Untack & Groom
  • 12:00 Pick Up
  • Our horses are American Quarter Horses, Paints, Appaloosas and Ponies. They have had successful careers in showing, lessons and they are Therapy Horses with our Equine Assisted Learning and Psychotherapy program. Many of our horses are adopted and rescued and are helping people through our EAL/P programs.

Rates:

Camp Week - 3 days : $300.00 pp

 

 

 

* Children under the age of 10 are not accepted into the camp program, but may be appropriate for the EAL groups and small group riding.

* Discounts – sliding fee scales are contingent on sponsorships received and are not guaranteed until all registration materials are received and funding is secured.


* $80.00 deposit and registration forms are due by June 20th. Turning in registrations and deposits early reserves your week(s) of choice. Deposits are non-refundable. The Camp week will be canceled if there are not 4 or more registrants  for that week.

Sponsor a Horse


For $50.00 a month (about $1.67 a day) you can sponsor the feeding of one of our horses used to help at risk youth, victims of domestic violence and other beneficiaries of our many community programs at Peaceful Acres.


Sponsor a Child


Your generous gift of $80.00 a month (only $2.66 a day), about the cost of a cup of coffee, you can provide a deserving child with our 'Day at the Farm' program where they will learn to ride, care for and interact with one of our horses but most importantly, you will be giving them the self-confidence and self-reliance to rebuild their lives
